The project addresses challenges facing rural communities in Ghana: declining agricultural productivity due to climate change, soil degradation, and biodiversity loss. Limited access to climate-resilient farming practices also reduces farmers’ ability to adapt, threatening food security and local livelihoods. The project’s solution is a community-led programme that combines climate-smart agriculture with biodiversity conservation. It provides practical training for farmers, women and young people on sustainable farming techniques, improved land management and tree planting, encouraging community collaboration and knowledge sharing. It ams to improve crop yields strengthen resilience to climate change and protect natural ecosystems by integrating environmental conservation with agricultural development.

Current costs include training materials, seeds and tree seedlings, demonstration farm equipment, transport for outreach activities and community workshops. The project is funded through a combination of grants, donations, community contributions, in-kind support from local partners and volunteer contribution. I seeks to expand funding through partnerships with NGOs, government agencies and development organisations. Key challenges include limited funding, unpredictable weather, low awareness of climate-smart farming practices in communities, logistical constraints in reaching remote communities and reliance on volunteers. The long-term vision is to expand training programmes across the Wa West District, establish demonstration farms, strengthen farmer networks and build partnerships that support sustainable growth.
