Project Description

EmpowerSport Alliance (ESA) is a youth-led social impact initiative in Ghana that uses sports as a platform for economic empowerment, skills development, and poverty reduction among disadvantaged youth and women. Currently in the early development stage and operating for less than 12 months, the initiative combines sports, education, and entrepreneurship through its Sports-Education-Entrepreneurship (SEE) Model.

ESA delivers structured sports programmes alongside vocational skills training, financial literacy, mentorship, leadership development, and entrepreneurship education. Through partnerships with schools, sports clubs, and community organizations, the initiative supports young people in developing both athletic and employable skills while creating pathways to income-generating opportunities within the sports sector.

The project also promotes sports-based entrepreneurship by helping participants establish ventures such as coaching services, sports equipment production, fitness training, and event management. Community tournaments and sports activities serve as platforms for addressing youth employment, gender equality, and social inclusion challenges.

Impact: Strengthens youth employment, entrepreneurship, leadership, social inclusion, and economic empowerment through sports-based development. The initiative contributes to SDGs 1, 4, 5, 8, and 10.

Revenue Model: Currently supported through personal contributions, volunteer support, and in-kind community partnerships, with plans to secure grants, sponsorships, and impact investments.

Expenses: Sports equipment, training programme development, mentorship and coaching support, community outreach, youth workshops, sports tournaments, entrepreneurship training, and project administration.

Challenges: Limited funding, inadequate sports infrastructure, access to mentorship and technical expertise, barriers to youth entrepreneurship, and ensuring greater participation of young women and girls.

Vision: To establish sustainable community sports hubs across Ghana and eventually Africa that combine sports training, entrepreneurship, mentorship, and leadership development. ESA aims to create youth-led sports enterprises, strengthen economic opportunities, and transform sports into a catalyst for long-term community development and social impact.

Development Stage: Early Development.
