Focus Area: Capacity Building
Project Phase: Early Development

Project Description

Clean Energy Skills for TVET Youth is a youth-led initiative in Kenya focused on preparing technical and vocational education and training (TVET) students for opportunities in the clean energy sector. Currently in the early development stage and operating for less than 12 months, the project introduces young technical professionals to renewable energy technologies, energy efficiency practices, and emerging sustainable energy solutions.

Through workshops, practical demonstrations, and mentorship activities, the initiative provides foundational knowledge in solar photovoltaic systems and clean energy technologies while helping students understand career pathways within the energy transition. The project seeks to bridge the gap between traditional technical training and the growing demand for renewable energy skills.

Impact: Strengthens youth capacity, technical skills development, clean energy awareness, and workforce readiness, contributing to SDGs 4, 7, 8, and 13.

Revenue Model: Currently supported through in-kind contributions, with future plans to secure grants, donations, prizes, and partnerships.

Expenses: Training materials, solar demonstration equipment, educational resources, workshop logistics, and student engagement activities.

Challenges: Limited access to renewable energy training equipment, low awareness of clean energy career opportunities among students, and securing financial resources for expansion.

Vision: To create a scalable training model that can be replicated across TVET institutions in Kenya, equipping young technicians with renewable energy knowledge, practical skills, mentorship opportunities, and pathways into the clean energy workforce.

Development Stage: Early Development.
