A few years ago, during my studies in the city, I traveled back to my village. Growing up, I spent the first 15 years of my life without access to electricity or technology. My village, located 400 km from the city, was one of many rural areas in Ethiopia where energy poverty was a daily reality. When we returned, we brought a solar-powered solution to provide light for households. We installed it in a well-known household in the community, and that single source of energy became a lifeline. It was used for lighting, charging phones, and creating a space where students could study. This simple initiative improved health, empowered the community, and inspired others. Today, the entire village has access to energy.

This experience led to the creation of HULUSOLAR ENERGY with the vision that “All Deserve Solar.” Our mission is to eliminate energy poverty in rural Ethiopia by distributing clean, affordable solar energy solutions. We have designed a unique installation process that integrates traditional African house designs with capacity-building programs. This approach involves training “Solar Ambassadors” at the community level, creating job opportunities while empowering businesses and individuals.

Through a scalable pilot project, we have demonstrated that our model can expand to reach communities across the country. Our goal is to achieve nationwide impact by 2030. From modest beginnings, we have built a team of dedicated young individuals passionate about transforming lives and protecting the environment. HULUSOLAR ENERGY is a story of resilience, innovation, and a brighter future at the community level.
