APEN Energy (African Power and Energy Network) is an innovative platform that will be designed to transform energy access in Nigeria by enabling peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading. The platform will connect solar energy producers with consumers, allowing surplus electricity from rooftop solar systems, microgrids, and independent power producers to be sold directly to those in need.
By leveraging distributed energy resources (DERs) and smart grid technology, APEN Energy will facilitate seamless energy transactions, ensuring efficient management of electricity supply and demand. The platform will integrate real-time data analytics, secure digital payments, and automated trading mechanisms to optimize energy distribution.
APEN Energy will also develop strategic partnerships with solar panel installers and microgrid providers to accelerate renewable energy deployment, while exploring a collaboration with distribution companies (DisCos) to address energy theft by supplying electricity to non-paying customers through a controlled P2P system.
Beyond trading, APEN Energy aims to scale into a grid management solutions provider, offering software for monitoring and controlling distributed energy resources for utilities and DisCos. This will position APEN as a leader in managing Nigeria’s decentralized energy transition.
With a vision to enhance energy reliability, democratize power distribution, and build a cleaner energy future, APEN Energy seeks to scale its model across Africa, fostering economic empowerment through energy access. By bridging the gap between producers and consumers, APEN Energy will redefine how power is generated, shared, and monetized in the African energy landscape.
