Project Description

AHYC Power: Empowering Youth for Sustainable Energy and Climate Resilience is a groundbreaking project aimed at tackling Zambia’s energy challenges while promoting climate change mitigation and adaptation. This initiative will provide affordable, renewable energy solutions to communities affected by load shedding, focusing on solar power systems, solar microgrids, and clean cookstoves. The project will enhance climate resilience by empowering rural and urban communities with sustainable energy sources, reducing dependence on the national grid and fossil fuels.

At the heart of this project is youth empowerment. AHYC Power will offer training programs that equip young people with technical skills in solar technology, installation, and maintenance, enabling them to become energy technicians and entrepreneurs in their communities. By creating jobs and fostering innovation, the project will actively involve youth in the green energy sector, driving sustainable change.

In addition, AHYC Power will support climate-smart agriculture by providing solar-powered irrigation systems to smallholder farmers, ensuring year-round farming even in drought-prone areas. The project will also contribute to Zambia’s carbon reduction goals through reforestation efforts and the sale of carbon credits.

By combining renewable energy access, youth training, and climate resilience strategies, AHYC Power will create long-term social and economic benefits, addressing energy insecurity and climate change while fostering a green economy in Zambia. The project aims to not only end load shedding but also empower youth to lead the way toward a sustainable and resilient future for Zambia.

AHYC Power plans to offer training programs that equip young people with technical skills in solar technology, installation, and maintenance, enabling them to become energy technicians and entrepreneurs in their communities. By creating jobs and fostering innovation (SDG 8), the project will actively involve youth in the green energy sector, driving sustainable change.

In addition, AHYC Power will support climate-smart agriculture (SDG 2) by providing solar-powered irrigation systems to smallholder farmers, ensuring year-round farming even in drought-prone areas. The project will also contribute to Zambia’s carbon reduction goals (SDG 13) through reforestation efforts and the sale of carbon credits.
