Hydr02Research is a youth-led research initiative in Nepal focused on the intersection of water governance, climate resilience, and sustainable development. Currently in the early development stage and operating for less than 12 months, the project aims to generate accessible research, policy insights, and knowledge-sharing resources that address water-related challenges in vulnerable mountain and urban communities.
The initiative conducts policy reviews, data analysis, and community-based research to identify gaps in environmental governance and sustainable resource management. Through research articles, policy briefs, and visual knowledge products, Hydr02Research seeks to bridge the gap between academic research and practical decision-making while encouraging greater youth participation in environmental and sustainability discussions.
Impact: Strengthens evidence-based policymaking, climate resilience awareness, sustainable water management, and youth participation in environmental governance. The initiative contributes to SDGs 6, 7, 13, and 17.
Revenue Model: Currently none. Activities are supported through personal contributions and voluntary efforts, with plans to pursue grants, research collaborations, and youth innovation programmes.
Expenses: Research resources, data access, communication tools, content development, outreach activities, and basic operational costs.
Challenges: Limited funding, restricted access to research tools and datasets, balancing project activities with academic commitments, and building visibility and partnerships as a new initiative.
Vision: To become a youth-driven platform for research and knowledge exchange on water, climate resilience, and sustainable development. The initiative aims to expand research outputs, strengthen partnerships, and explore the water-energy-climate nexus while creating opportunities for young people to contribute to environmental research and policy dialogue.
Development Stage: Early Development.
