ENERGIZEWASTE is a youth-serving clean energy and green entrepreneurship initiative in Namibia that promotes sustainable alternatives to traditional cooking fuels through eco-charcoal and biogas solutions. Currently in the growth stage and operating for less than 12 months, the project trains, mentors, and empowers young people and communities to develop green businesses while addressing environmental, social, and public health challenges associated with firewood use.

The initiative focuses on reducing reliance on traditional three-stone cooking methods, which contribute to indoor air pollution, deforestation, and health risks, particularly for women and children. Through practical training in eco-charcoal production and small-scale biogas systems, participants gain skills that can generate income, improve energy access, and support sustainable livelihoods. The project also raises awareness of climate change, waste management, clean energy adoption, and environmental conservation.

Impact: Promotes clean cooking solutions, green entrepreneurship, climate change awareness, waste-to-energy innovation, and community empowerment. The initiative contributes to SDGs 3, 5, 7, 8, 13, and 15.

Revenue Model: User fees for eco-charcoal and biogas training programmes, with potential future support through sponsorships and partnerships.

Expenses: Transportation, accommodation, training materials, practical demonstrations, community outreach, and training delivery costs.

Challenges: Limited funding and sponsorship opportunities, high travel costs to reach rural communities, and inability to offer free training despite significant interest from young people and community groups.

Vision: To provide affordable, smoke-free, and sustainable energy solutions that reduce health risks, deforestation, and energy poverty while building a generation of young green entrepreneurs. The project aims to expand mentorship programmes, strengthen community awareness, and support youth-led clean energy businesses across Namibia.

Development Stage: Growth stage, seeking funding and strategic support to expand training activities and extend its reach to underserved rural communities.
